Learning from archive photographs

Views of an Antique Land was a Heritage Lottery Funded project for Cardiff University, which saught to collect images of Egypt and Palestine taken during the First World War.  The aim was to provide a web resource where decendants could gain a better understanding of the visual landscape seen by their ancestors.  https://ww1imagesegypt.org.uk/

My role (through Breaking Barriers Community Arts) was to produce 4 videos, two english, two welsh that described the theatre of war through the photographs collected and to explain the process of learning through archive photographs.  The filming took place at venues in Cardiff, showing participants sharing their archive and stories about the conflict and at Merthyr Tydful's Cyfarthfa Castle, learning about the archive from the expertise of Professor Paul t. Nicholson, Dr Steve Mills, Mary Reynolds and Dr Denise Alan. The films can be viewed offline.

Here is a youtube entry from Research Libraries UK where Dr Steve Mill talks about the project.
